The Perth Kilt Run is already a Guinness world-record holder for the World’s Largest Kilt Run, and the event grows in popularity every year. In 2016 it’s aiming to be an epic celebration!
From June 24 to 26 you’re invited to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Perth Military Settlement (Perth, Beckwith, Drummond/North Elmsley and Tay Valley) in a kilt! It features a Guinness World Record attempt at the most kilted runners for the Royal Kilted Mile – with a goal of 5,000 runners!
Participants enter the one mile, 8K or half marathon, which all start at 6 p.m. on the Saturday, and compete in the integrated mile. On Sunday a 200th Anniversary Kilt Run Marathon is slated to start in Rideau Ferry and follow the Settlers Trail along Rideau Ferry Road and the Scotch Line, crossing through four historic mills along the way and ending at Ecotay (an 1816 farm and entertainment centre on the Upper Scotch Line) for a celebration.
The weekend also features a Celtic concert on Friday night, kids’ races, haggis hurling, tug-o-war, music and more. Get your Scottish on! For info see http://perthkiltrun.blogspot.ca/ .
